Auto Shipping Process
Process to Ship a Car
The auto shipping process really starts the quote. At JTH Shipping & Logistics, we offer free no-risk quotes to ship your car. We can give you an instant quote to transport your vehicle with just a few pieces of information: What kind of vehicle are you shipping? Where is the vehicle located? Where is it going? Does it run? Do you want an open or enclosed carrier? How can we get our quote to you? We do not sell your information and will only use this to provide you with your requested quote information.Auto Transport Process
1What happens after you receive your auto shipping quote from JTH?
We offer a few different ways for you to receive your quote information - view your quote instantly on our website, receive an email copy and receive a text message (if you choose to provide this information). Each of these options will provide a link to place your order online. Want to speak with us? We'd love to hear from you! We know that shipping your vehicle is a pretty big deal...we'd love to explain the process to you over the phone and answer any questions. Give us a call at 513-318-4503
2Understanding Your Quoted Price:
Our price is all-inclusive (based on the information you have provided) and covers your total cost to ship your vehicle. We offer two payment options - the first includes paying your deposit via credit card when your vehicle is assigned to a truck. The remainder of your shipping fees will be due at the time of delivery, directly to the driver via cash, money order or certified funds. Alternatively, you can pay your entire shipping fees via credit card at the time you place your order.
3Things to know before you call to place your order or place your order online:
Detailed Origin and Destination Information -When you are booking your auto shipment be prepared to provide a contact name, phone number and address for both the origin and destination. If you plan on the vehicle being picked up or delivered to an address other than to the contact, have that available.
Vehicle Information -Know the vehicle year, make, model and color. It is also helpful to have the last six numbers of the VIN number. This information will be used to ensure that the correct vehicle is picked up and delivered.
Ready Date -You may have seen this term when you were requesting your quote. This is simply the first date that the vehicle is able to be picked up.
Time Restrictions -If you have a time constraint for your auto shipment, please tell us as soon as possible. We do offer expedited services but need to know as soon as possible. Additional fees will apply.
4Dispatch:
When your vehicle is assigned to a truck, or "dispatched", we will email you and send a text message with your estimated pick up and delivery dates. We will also reach out via phone if the pick up is within 24 hours to confirm your availability. If you would prefer to receive your dispatch information via phone call instead of email and text message, please let us know! Your driver will reach out directly to you within 24 hours of pick up and delivery. They will be able to provide a time-frame to expect their arrival.
5Pick Up:
The driver will contact you before pickup and delivery. Please keep in mind that they are typically driving a rather large truck, which may not fit down all residential streets. If this is the case, it is common practice to request that you meet the driver in a large parking lot or open area. If you know ahead of time that a very large truck will not fit on your street or community restrictions prohibit them, please let us know.
Once the truck arrives, you will be asked to conduct an inspection of the vehicle. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! The inspection, called a bill of lading, will protect both you and the driver in the event of damage. Be sure to document any damage inside the vehicle and outside of the vehicle. Ask for a copy of this document. After the paperwork is complete, the driver will load your vehicle onto the truck. This process may vary based on the size and type of truck, but basically it will be driven onto the carrier and secured with chains on the underside of your vehicle. This is a very safe process and most cars already have anchor points for the chains. Once your vehicle is loaded and secured, it will begin its journey to the destination. You are done with the pickup process!

6Delivery:
Almost done, you just need to obtain your vehicle off of the truck! As with pickup, the driver will contact you to arrange delivery. The driver will unchain your vehicle and remove it from the trailer. You will be asked to complete the same vehicle inspection as you did before the vehicle was loaded onto the carrier. The origin inspection is typically on the same page as the destination inspection, this comes in handy if you were not the contact at the origin. If it is not on the same page and you are not presented with a copy of the origin inspection, ask to see one! Also, if it is dark, snowing or raining at the time of delivery be sure to mark that on the bill of lading. Sometimes damage can be hidden in poorly lit conditions. Once the paperwork is done, you may need to pay your driver.
